The work presented in this book gives a glimpse into the various stages involved in the development of a Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) with on-chip JFET. The development of the SDD was carried out in phased manner, with the proto-type development being carried out at the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) followed by development of commercial grade SDDs at Bharat Electronics Ltd., Bangalore (BEL). Simulations in TCAD (device and process) were employed to arrive at optimized parameter values for the SDD with on-chip JFET. Various different kinds of SDDs and JFETs were designed to study the effect of a variation in design parameters on the performance parameters. The fabrication process for proto-type SDD was formulated for achieving a high breakdown voltage (100V) coupled with a low leakage current achievable at IIT-B. Further, designs of the SDD with on-chip JFET were generated for fabrication at BEL. Fabrication of both SDD and JFET over high resistivity Silicon posed a significant technological challenge mitigated by process optimization in TCAD.

The composite materials has been widely used in all fields of Engineering such as Aerospace, Automobile, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Medical, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology etc. The failure in a composite is a complex process because failure is mainly based on the initiating failure mechanisms. No single failure criterion predicts all the initiating failure mechanisms in a composite subjected to loadings. Hence, development of new failure criterion called the Failure Mechanism Based Failure Criterion is presented in this book. Additionally, design optimization of composite structures using nature inspired optimization techniques such as Genetic Algorithms and Particle Swarm Optimization are presented in this book. This book deals about the comparison of different failure criteria, development of new failure criterion, design optimization of composites. Hence, this book will be useful for graduate students, researchers, practising professionals, faculties etc.
Restaurant workers, who works in the kitchen, doing the different activities in continuous standing posture and spent most of the time inside the buildings and therefore experience the greatest amount of exposure while performing various activities and at greatest risk.Correct sitting and standing posture is an important factor for the prevention of musculoskeletal symptoms. Therefore, the study was undertaken design of ergonomically, functional and aesthetically sound relaxing chair for kitchen related standing activity. For the present study 120 workers were selected from the four south Indian restaurant i.e. Sri Nidhi Sagar, Raaga the family restaurant, Tamarind and Inchara the family restaurant, Bangalore city, Karnataka State. Descriptive cum experimental research design was used for the present study. Purposive sampling procedure was followed to select the sample and data was gathered by interview method. The workers were mainly literate and aged from 25-40 years.
